Opening up about the couple’s Decembernuptials, the 29-year-old actor revealed that it was actually pretty easy to quickly put together their intimate ceremony.
“It wasn’t hard — we have a small group of friends,” Hemsworth toldExtraat the G’Day USA Black Tie Gala on Saturday.
“It was mainly immediate family, a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing,” he explained, adding, “I am very happy to be where I am.”
The actor went on to reveal that tying the knot hasn’t really changed life for the couple, calling married life “the same but different,” noting that they’ve “been together for the better part of 10 years.”

That evening, Hemsworth was honored at the gala, accepting the excellence in film award, and he made sure to give an extra special thanks to his new wife, who was in the crowd cheering him on.
“Thank you to my beautiful wife,” Hemsworth said near the end of his speech, prompting the audience to burst into loud applause.
He playfully added, “Yeah, I’ll tell you later.”

Throughout the evening, which doubled as the pair’s public debut as husband and wife, the couple was also seen getting cozy at their table.

Sharing her own loving tribute to Hemsworth on social media, Cyrus posted a photo of the couple smiling together at the black-tie gala.
“Date night,” she wrote alongside the sweet photo, adding a red heart emoji. “OUT andready to party with the MR.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth tied the knot on Dec. 23 in a secret ceremony at the singer’s home in Franklin, Tennessee.
Their wedding day was absolutely “perfect,” a sourcepreviously told PEOPLE. “They always wanted a small, private celebration with family and close friends and that’s what they got. Miley seems ecstatic.”
