In the original novel , Murtry ( who appeared in the 4th book of James S.A. Corey ’s serial publication , Cibola Burn ) was the RCE chief of security aboard the Edward Israel , and finally usurps control of a settlement on Illus called First Landing , establish a ruthless soldierlike law in an attempt to crack down on belter resistance fighter on the satellite .
