The ancient painting , which form a courtyard about 4 meters by 5 meters ( 13 by 16 feet ) , depicts two curly serpents , used to represent spirits , in front of an altar with a pinecone and egg perched on top . It ’s believed these target were offering to the spirits to insure successfulness and good luck for the owners of the home ( a small Lord’s table was also found in the garden ) . Elsewhere on the same wall , around about the height of a flower seam , are painting of a peacock , flying razzing , and other leafy patterns .
On the opposite wall , there ’s another vividly - distort hunt fit of several light - biased animals prance towards a wild boar , which the researchers consider could “ allude to the triumph of the forces of good over evilness . ”
Director of the Archaeological Park , Massimo Osanna , described the find as “ grand and oracular elbow room , ” speaking toANSA , an Italian news agency .
Pompeii is most notable for its iconic “ fixed figures ” that perished in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE .
