Ewoks are one of the boastful lightning rods for debate in Star Wars fandom . Do you love them ? Do you hate them ? Did George Lucasput them in Return of the Jedi to just deal miniature , story be dam up ? We could go on forever . Now , a new wrinkle has been tote up to that debate thanks to Sunday ’s episode of Star Wars Resistance — and it ’s kind of judgement - blowing .
In the installment , called “ The High Tower , ” Kaz is pull to hide in Torra ’s elbow room toget by from the First Order . Once in there , you see that Torra is a fleck of a geek who has tons of coolheaded little trinkets all over the position , almost all of which are Star Wars Easter eggs . According toStarWars.com , there ’s “ a bantha wench , a tooka doll , a poster of Sabine Wren art , a Boonta Eve Podrace post horse , stormtrooper and Boushh action at law figures , and a T-16 fashion model ” just to name a few . In my judgement , this raise so , so many interrogative about the Star Wars universe . First of all , who makes these Ewok dolls — mob - made toys survive , of form ; Rogue One ’s Jyn Erso hada whole box of dollsmade by her parents . So is the Ewok prescribed product , or did Torra make it herself ? If the former is the case , did whoever made it get the Ewoks ’ permission ? Do Ewoks get a cut ? Did Ewoks become democratic because of their function in the Battle of Endor , or were they democratic before that just because they are cute ? Are there famous Ewoks ? Is n’t it a slight weird to trade a species that offered its service to the New Republicas therapy beingsfor veteran soldier ? I mean , it ’s a veritable Pandora ’s box of Star Wars conundrums .
In all honesty , the Ewok chick was almost certainly placed in Torra ’s elbow room as a cute wink to fans and was likely likened to a kid possess a teddy bear . But there ’s obviously a big difference : Bears are animals . They do n’t createmilitary scheme and squad upwith humans to fight the bad guys . Ewoks are more than simple forest critters . They ’re an intelligent specieswith a burgeon gild . And the fact we now know Ewok toy exist in the Star Wars canyon frame a very unique and interesting spin on things .
I think , if there are Ewok dolls , does it end there ? Can kids buy lightsaber replicas , or Jedi Knight action figures ? Does Darth Maul sell mask ? We demand to know more about Star Wars merchandising inside the Star Wars canon itself . After all , Star Warswouldn’t exist without its merchandise , so it ’s decent to screw it ’s also part of that coltsfoot far , far , away .
