Detective Valerie Stahl has been hang around in the background of Almost Human , offering reenforcement and a flirty grinning to John Kennex . In this episode , we finally get some hints of Stahl ’s setting — although the instalment is still all about Kennex .

I hope we do n’t have to wait another ten sequence to learn more about Stahl and her background .

What is day - to - twenty-four hours life like there ? How is it standardized to or different from modern schooltime for the gifted ? A few small point could do a lot to create an range of the schooltime in witness ’ minds . ( Although we got one small piece of world building in the name “ McGregor ” used in the same breathing place as “ Einstein . ” ) At least this wo n’t be the last time we visit the chrome or the stratification of riches and intellect . Hopefully , we ’ll see it more fleshed out in the future .
While Kennex is investigating percept - altering drugs , he ’s taking a rather shady neuro - drug himself . It ’s certainly no coincidence that the drugs are similar , but rather of opening up his perceptual experience , Kennex is reopen his memories . And it ’s skillful to see our well-disposed neighborhood Recollectionist again . Again , I ca n’t shake the musical theme that Kennex ’s entire arc this installment would have felt less illogical if the episode had been air in order , but the big revelation of the episode — that the nesting bird his X - girlfriend Anna gave him contains a listening twist that has been spying on him since he add up out of his coma — is nicely integrate with the main plot of ground . This may be the first clip that I ’ve been peculiarly concerned in the Anna / Insyndicate helping of Almost Human ’s storyline , because abruptly Anna feel present , even if only in the configuration of a listening equipment .
