A towering invasive flora open of scarring anyone unlucky enough to touch its toxic sap is crop back up in the U.S. And for the first time ever , it ’s been spy in the state of Virginia .
The toxic plant , ably known as thegiant Heracleum sphondylium , was first introduced to North America from its native home of Asia sometime around the former twentieth century . It was earlier intended as a decorative works , but it had other ideas . In areas where it likes to grow , such as overt woodlands or alongside river and steams , the elephantine hogweed , which can reach heights of 20 feet , speedily crowds out the surrounding works animation and deprives them of precious sunshine .
And though it may look pretty , the giant hogweed is dangerous to touch . Its unmortgaged , weak sap has toxins that , when exposed to sunshine and moisture , irritate and glow the skin . Usually , the damage is nothing more than blisters that live on for a few Day , but there have beenconfirmedcases of people developing purplish , lasting scars from hogweed sap .
